Website Location & Hosting Checker

Find out where a website is hosted: its server IP addresses and their location, the hosting provider or CDN, the DNS provider and who handles its email.

How to find where a website is hosted

Every website lives on servers with public IP addresses. This tool looks up the site's DNS records to find those addresses, then uses IP geolocation and network ownership data to show the country and city of each server, the hosting company or CDN that operates it and its autonomous system (ASN). It also tells you which company runs the site's DNS and email, which is handy when you are researching a competitor, planning a migration or reporting abuse.

Why the location may not be the "real" server

Many sites sit behind a content delivery network such as Cloudflare, Akamai or Fastly. CDNs use anycast: the same IP address is announced from hundreds of data centres, and visitors reach the nearest one. In that case the location shown is the CDN edge near our server, while the origin server that actually stores the site is hidden, by design, for performance and security. The tool flags CDN-hosted sites so you can interpret the result correctly. IP geolocation itself is approximate; see how accurate IP geolocation is.

Why server location matters

  • Speed: the further visitors are from the server, the higher the latency. A CDN fixes this for global audiences. Measure it with the website speed test.
  • Data protection: some organisations must keep data in a specific country or region (for example under GDPR transfer rules).
  • Abuse reports: to report phishing or malware hosted on a site, contact the hosting provider's abuse team (find it with WHOIS).

Frequently asked questions

Can I find the origin server behind Cloudflare?

Not through public DNS: hiding the origin is one of the protections a CDN provides. This tool does not attempt to bypass it.

Why does a site have several IP addresses?

Large sites use multiple servers and IPv4 and IPv6 addresses for redundancy and load balancing.

Is the website host the same as the domain registrar?

Not necessarily. The registrar (shown in WHOIS) is where the domain is registered; DNS, hosting and email can each be run by different companies.
