How to convert Excel to PDF
- Drop a spreadsheet onto the upload area.
.xlsx,.xls,.xlsm,.odsand.csvfiles are supported. - Choose the page Orientation: Landscape (the default, best for wide tables) or Portrait.
- Click Convert to PDF and download the result.
The spreadsheet is read and converted entirely in your browser. It is never uploaded, which matters when the workbook contains salaries, customer data or financial figures.
How the conversion works
Every worksheet in the workbook is rendered as a table in the PDF. Rows and columns are laid out as a clean grid, and long sheets continue automatically onto the next page. If the workbook has several sheets, each one gets its own section, so a file with "January", "February" and "March" sheets produces one PDF containing all three tables.
The PDF shows the values of the cells as they are stored in the file. Formulas are not printed as formulas; you see their results, just as you would when printing the sheet in Excel.
Landscape or portrait?
| Orientation | Best for |
|---|---|
| Landscape | Sheets with many columns: financial reports, timesheets, data exports |
| Portrait | Narrow lists with a few columns and many rows: price lists, inventories, contact lists |
Why turn a spreadsheet into a PDF?
- Read-only sharing. Recipients see the numbers but cannot accidentally change formulas or data.
- Opens everywhere. No Excel licence or spreadsheet app is needed; any browser or phone can display a PDF.
- Printable reports. A PDF has fixed pages, so the table prints the same on every printer.
- Attachments and submissions. Many portals and accountants request reports in PDF format.
Tips and limitations
- Data, not design. The converter produces a clean data table. Excel-specific formatting such as cell colours, conditional formatting, charts, images and exact column widths is not reproduced.
- Very wide sheets are easier to read in landscape. If a sheet has dozens of columns, consider deleting or hiding unneeded columns in a copy of the file first.
- Remove helper sheets you do not want to share, because every sheet in the workbook is included.
- Need the data instead? To give someone the raw data rather than a printable report, export it with Excel to CSV.
Frequently asked questions
Are all sheets converted?
Yes. Each worksheet in the file is rendered as its own table in the PDF, in the same order as in the workbook.
Will my formulas be visible in the PDF?
No. The PDF shows the values of the cells, which is what most people want in a report. The original workbook keeps the formulas.
Can I convert a CSV file to PDF?
Yes. A CSV file is treated as a workbook with a single sheet and becomes one table in the PDF.
