How to convert SVG to PNG
- Drop one or more
.svgfiles onto the upload area. - Enter the Width in pixels for the PNG (default
1024). The height is calculated from the SVG's proportions. - Click Convert to PNG and download the images.
Rendering happens in your browser, so your logos and illustrations are never uploaded or stored.
Vector vs raster: why convert SVG to PNG?
SVG (Scalable Vector Graphics) describes an image with shapes, paths and text in XML. Because it is made of mathematical instructions rather than pixels, it stays perfectly sharp at any size and is ideal for logos, icons and illustrations on websites.
PNG is a raster format: a fixed grid of pixels with lossless compression and full transparency support. Many places do not accept SVG at all, including:
- Social media profile pictures and posts
- Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and many email clients
- App stores, marketplaces and many online forms
- Some image editors and older software
Converting to PNG gives you a file that works everywhere while keeping crisp edges and a transparent background.
Choosing the right width
Since an SVG can be rendered at any size without losing quality, pick the width you actually need. The PNG will be exactly that many pixels wide.
| Use | Suggested width |
|---|---|
| Favicon or small icon | 64–512 px |
| Website logo (including high-density screens) | 2× the displayed width, e.g. 400–600 px |
| Social media image or presentation slide | 1080–1920 px |
| Print (300 DPI) | Print width in inches × 300, e.g. 1500 px for 5 inches |
Tips and limitations
- Transparency is preserved. Areas without a fill stay transparent in the PNG.
- Include a viewBox. SVGs with a
viewBoxattribute scale correctly to any width. Files with only fixed width and height or with neither may render at an unexpected size. - External resources are not loaded. For security reasons, browsers do not load external fonts, images or stylesheets referenced by an SVG that is rendered as an image. Convert text to outlines in your design tool, or embed fonts and images, before converting.
- Animations and interactive scripts in an SVG are not captured; you get a single static frame.
Frequently asked questions
Will the PNG be blurry?
No, as long as you choose a width at least as large as the size you will display it at. The SVG is rendered directly at the chosen width, so there is no upscaling.
Why are my fonts wrong in the PNG?
The SVG probably references a web font or a font installed on your computer. Convert text to paths (outlines) in your design tool before exporting the SVG.
Can I convert several SVG files at once?
Yes. All selected files are rendered at the same width.
