Share My Location

Get your exact location and send it to anyone as a Google Maps link, by WhatsApp, Telegram, SMS, email or QR code. Your location is never sent to our server.

Your browser will ask for permission. For best accuracy, turn on GPS/Location Services and Wi-Fi.

How to share your location with this tool

  1. Press Get my location and allow location access when your browser asks.
  2. Check the pin on the map. The circle shows the accuracy reported by your device.
  3. Edit the message if you like, then tap WhatsApp, Telegram, SMS, Email or Share… to open your phone's share sheet. Or copy the Google Maps link and paste it anywhere.

The recipient gets a standard Google Maps link that opens directly in the Google Maps app or website, with a pin on your exact coordinates. Apple Maps, Waze and OpenStreetMap links are available too.

Privacy: your coordinates are calculated by your device and turned into links inside your browser. They are never sent to WhatsMyIPNumber, and nothing is stored. You decide who receives the link.

How accurate is my location?

Phones with GPS are usually accurate to within about 5–20 metres outdoors. Laptops and desktops without GPS estimate their position from nearby Wi-Fi networks, which typically gives tens of metres in cities but can be much worse in rural areas. If location permission is denied, you can share your approximate IP location instead, but that only identifies the town or region your internet provider routes you through. Compare GPS and IP location.

How to share live location in Google Maps

This tool shares where you are right now. If you want someone to follow you as you move, use Google Maps' built-in live sharing:

  1. Open the Google Maps app on Android or iPhone and sign in.
  2. Tap your profile picture, then Location sharing → Share location.
  3. Choose how long to share (for example 1 hour, or until you turn it off) and pick a contact, or send the link through another app.
  4. Stop sharing at any time from the same menu.

To send a one-off pin from the Google Maps app instead, tap the blue dot showing your position and choose Share location, or long-press anywhere on the map to drop a pin and tap Share.

Other ways to share your location

  • WhatsApp: in a chat tap the attachment icon (📎 or +), then Location, and choose Share live location or Send your current location.
  • iPhone: use the Find My app (Share My Location) or, in Messages, tap the contact's name and choose Share My Location.
  • Android: besides Google Maps, many phones offer emergency location sharing under Settings → Safety & emergency.
  • Telegram: attachment → Location → Share my live location.
Emergency? Call your local emergency number. Emergency calls automatically send your location to responders in many countries, which is faster than sharing a link.

Frequently asked questions

Is the location link permanent?

Yes. A Google Maps link contains fixed coordinates, so it always points to the place where you were when you created it. It does not update as you move.

Why does it say location access is blocked?

You or your browser denied permission. Allow location for this site in your browser's site settings (the padlock icon next to the address) and make sure Location Services are on in your phone or computer settings.

Can someone see my location just because I opened this page?

No. Websites can only read your precise location after you grant permission, and this page never sends it anywhere. Sites can see your approximate IP-based location, which is shown on our What Is My IP page.

What format are the coordinates in?

Decimal degrees (latitude, longitude, WGS 84), the format used by Google Maps and GPS devices, plus degrees, minutes and seconds for maps and navigation apps that prefer it.
